The orient of Asturias speaks itself of a reach patrimony due to the presence of man throughout time. Cave "Tito Bustillo", one of the most spectacular caverock art in Spain, comparable to Altamira, it is located in Ribadesella. Nearby you will find Pedroses with figures of deers and bisons in its walls.
At Cangas de Onís you will find Cave of "El Buxu", with Superior Palaeolithic paintings, and in Llanes the "Idol of Peña Tu", a megalith that probably corresponds to the bronze age that represents figures of an idol and a dagger sculpture in rock and painted in red along other representations. Covadonga Sanctuary is another obligated visit, with the celeber cave of "La Santina", which keeps the image of the Virgin whos attribute the victory of D.Pelayo against the Arabs.In Cangas De Onis you can find the Santa Cruz Dolmen of the bronze age, in the crypt of a hermitage of the Seventh Century. You can also find another Palaeolithic cave in the council of Ribadedeva, Pindal, in the village of Pimiango, were you can watch prehistoric engravings and paintings. Between the two Caravias (Upper and Lower) you will find "Castro de Caravia", were numerous weapons, tools and weackles were founded and are now exposed in the Archaeological Museum of Oviedo. Another places of vital importance for the Asturian patrimony which are located in Ribadedeva are the tower-fortress of the Asturian Monarchy located in Noriega or the Indian Archive, which is kept in a typical architectural indianan house of the orient of Asturias.
Llanes, as model of coastly little village, presents numerous historic-artistic monuments like the walls that surround the Old Village or the medieval tower clasified as a national monument. In Llanes you can also find the gothic Church of "Santa María del Conceyu" and lots of singular buildings like the renacentist "Casa del Cercáu" (XVI Cen.), the Gastañaga Palace (XV Cen.) with two llamative romanic windows, the palace of Estrada and the house "Posada Herrera" (XVII Cen.) , reconverted in the Cultural House of Llanes. There is also a very important romanic church in San Antolín, near the beach situated one kilometre away from Naves, which construction dates the 11 Century.
In the two Peñamelleras there also obligated visits, like the romanic church of San Pedro de Plecín (IX Cen. Peñamemllera Alta), or the chapel of San Román (Peñamellera Baja), a beautiful example of the region romanic. We dont have to forget the cave with old paintings situated in the nearby of El Mazo.
